To help you get the most out of your sessions, here are a few simple guidelines to follow when meeting with your provider online:
- Find a Private, Quite Space
- Choose a place where you feel safe and comfortable.
- Try to be somewhere without distractions or people walking in and out.
- Use headphones if possible to help keep things private.
- Be Ready With Your Technology
- Make sure your phone, tablet, or computer is charged and working.
- Use a strong internet connection.
- Try to log in a few minutes early to make sure everything works okay.
- If the video doesn’t work, we may need to reschedule the session.
- Treat It Like an In-Person Session
- Be on time.
- Try to sit still and focus, just like you would if we were meeting in person.
- Don’t drive, cook, or run errands during your session.
- Dress appropriately, and be ready to talk.
- Keep It Confidential
- No one else should be in the room unless we talked about it first.
- Please don’t record the session.
- I’ll also be in a private space to protect your privacy.
- Tell Me Where You Are
- At the start of each session, I’ll ask you where you are ( your current address or location), just in case we have an emergency.
- If you’re in a place that doesn’t feel safe, let me know.
- Know What to Do If There’s a Problem
- If your screen freezes or your internet goes out, I’ll try calling you by phone.
- Make sure I have a phone number that works.
- If you’re in crisis, we many need to involve emergency support.
- Respect the Time
- If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us as much notice as you can.
- We may need to end the session if it’s too loud, unsafe, or not private.
