What is Individual Counseling?

Individual Counseling is a process through which an individual (client) works one-on-one with a qualified counselor, in a safe and caring setting, to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors to better understand themselves and others. Clients will set and identify personal goals and work towards aspects of their lives they would like to change.

Starting from the initial intake appointment, clients begin working with the counselor to obtain a clear focus on past and present concerns and inform the counselor as to the direction to take in counseling. Together, the counselor and client will create a tailored individual service plan that addresses each of the client’s individual needs / goals for therapy.

Clients are usually recommended to begin attend sessions once weekly. However, more frequent sessions may be recommended by the counselor based on the client’s individualized needs.
